April 8, 2001 - TFL going over to Box Wars?
Just read a lengthy review of a certain map on the TFL forums from one of the league admins. Geez, I hope this isn't the attitude off all the guys that select maps. They seem Hell-bent on forcing my poor graphics card to render hideously made and thoughtless maps. Come on people, show some kind of standards here. Unless the league changed over to Box Wars, it takes more than a bunch of hollowed out rectangles with cartoonish textures to make a good map.
April 2, 2001 - Casbah Declared Best of the Newest Valve Maps!
Okay, you can stop laughing now. No. Really! This isn't a blatent April Fool's joke. Pixel Map Reviews made that statement in their Casbah review.

My only guess is those guys like leisurely strolls from their respawn area to the body of the map. No spam. No llamas. No time, it takes to frickin long. By the time you reached an enemy the map changes.
March 31, 2001 - Simple CTF Map #58,732
As part of keeping up with the TFC community, I frequent map review sites. I reckon it's always a good idea to see what it is people like or dislike about maps and keep that in mind as I continue working on my projects.

When a recent piece of work received an almost perfect score, I for one was quite stunned. Most review sites quite correctly reserve such high scores on the assumption few if any maps are of such quality as to deserve them. Surely any such map would be the standard by whch all others should be compared. Honestly, I doubt many people will recognize this map a couple months from now. It's more of the same stale gameplay that even Valve has stopped foistering upon the community.

The map may be good quality, but it is not a standard. This begs the question, why did it get the high score?
